PRIVACY · v0.1 PROVISIONAL
Privacy Policy
This policy describes the privacy practices of MEMEX (memeeeeeex.com). It is currently published as a provisional v0.1 version, to be updated to a final version after consultation with the funding partner. Material changes will be recorded in the revision history at the bottom of this page.
1. Information we collect
MEMEX does not, as a general rule, collect information that identifies individuals. The site has no on-site contact form; inquiries are handled through the contact channel of our funding partner, KK siiiiiixth's contact page (external). Information entered there is handled under KK siiiiiixth's own privacy policy.
The only information MEMEX itself may obtain is the following access analytics, which begins only from the user's explicit consent.
- Google Analytics 4 (consent only)
- Only when you choose "I agree" in the cookie consent banner described in §2 below do we collect usage statistics — page views, events, and so on — keyed to a pseudonymous ID. Unless you consent, no measurement cookie is set and no personal identifier is transmitted (Consent Mode v2)
Separately from the above, our host, Cloudflare Pages, automatically collects the following technical information on every visit. MEMEX has no mechanism of its own to store or analyze this data individually.
- IP address (for Cloudflare's DDoS protection and auditing; discarded after a short period)
- User agent (browser / OS type)
- Referer (the URL you arrived from)
- Access time / requested URL / response code
See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy for how Cloudflare handles this information.
2. Cookies / tracking
MEMEX sets analytics cookies only when a user has explicitly consented. By default, no analytics cookie is set.
- Google Analytics 4 (consent only)
- We use Google Consent Mode v2. All signals (analytics_storage, ad_storage, and others) default to denied, and no measurement cookies (
_ga/_ga_*) are set. Only after you choose "I agree" in the banner at the bottom of the page is analytics_storage granted, letting GA4 collect usage statistics. Advertising-related signals (ad_storage / ad_personalization) remain denied even after consent, and we make no advertising use of the data - localStorage
- Only your theme preference (light / dark) and your cookie-consent choice (
ga-consent= granted / denied) are persisted. Both stay in your browser and are never sent to a server - Cookie (Cloudflare)
- Only Cloudflare's Bot Management / DDoS protection cookies (e.g.
__cf_bm). Session-scoped only
Withdrawing consent / opting out: you can change your consent choice at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer (withdrawing stops measurement immediately). You can also clear your browser's localStorage / cookies, or use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. We do not use advertising tags such as the Meta Pixel or the X Pixel.
3. Third-party embeds
Articles may embed the following third-party content.
- YouTube
- Videos are embedded via
youtube-nocookie.com(privacy-enhanced mode). No cookie is issued until you start playback - External links
- Outbound links to X, Wikipedia, official blogs, and similar destinations carry
rel="noopener noreferrer"; the destination's own practices govern its behavior
4. Purpose of use
Information we obtain is used only for the following purposes.
- Stable site operation (incident detection, handling traffic spikes)
- Security (DDoS protection, WAF, abuse prevention)
- Performance improvement (optimizing cache hit rates)
- Access analytics (consent only — using GA4 page-view and readership trends to inform editorial decisions)
We do not use data for advertising delivery, personally-identifying profiling, sale to third parties, or marketing. GA4's advertising-related signals (ad_storage / ad_personalization) are always denied.
5. Availability to AI crawlers
MEMEX's content (articles, people profiles, topics) is licensed for AI crawler access. This is a license we grant over content we have published, not a third-party disclosure of information collected from users. See /robots.txt and /llms.txt (also /en/llms.txt for the English edition) for details.
6. Contact
For questions about this policy, please see the contact page.
